Cyrus Tang CaringHeart Scholarship (“CaringHeart Scholarship”)

This scholarship is designed to encourage the development of character, good citizenship as well as scholastic diligence among young students. The award is given to middle school and high school students who have the following values: Devotion to parents (孝顺父母); Respect for teachers and elders (尊敬师长); Care for others (关心他人); Willingness to help (助人为乐); Diligence and hard work (刻苦勤俭); Good grades (成绩优良). The scholarship recipients are selected annually through anonymous voting by fellow students. One recipient is selected from each class of each grade from all middle schools and high schools in a selected county. The award is Rmb 400 per student per year for middle school students, and Rmb 800 per student per year for high school students. Recipients are expected to join the school’s CaringHeart team so as to help them develop from an early age a spirit of helping others. The scholarship was initiated in October 2006 to cover rural counties.
