University Of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital

This is a 242,000 ft², 155-bed, six-story facility that provides an ultra-modern yet child-friendly setting for all inpatient children’s health services. Its programs in such specialties as cardiology, neurology, neonatology, transplantation and other medical and surgical procedures, are nationally recognized. As a part of University of Chicago Hospitals system, the mission of the Comer Children’s Hospital is to provide superior healthcare in a compassionate manner, ever mindful of each patient’s dignity and individuality. The Foundation has provided funding to the Hospital to support operating expense.

University of Chicago Cartilage Restoration and Research Center

Funding to support the Center’s work to discover ways to repair cartilage injuries, and to slow, stop, or reverse the process of cartilage degeneration. The funds will also support research staff in educational endeavors relating to articular cartilage restoration.

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

The Foundation provided funds to the School’s affiliated hospital for state-of-the-art ophthalmological equipment, greatly enhancing patient care.

Compassion Net International (CNI)

This is a non-profit organization established in 2001 and headquartered in Nevada. Its mission is to serve hearing-impaired children of low-income families in Fujian Province, China. The organization provides free hearing instruments and special educational services to enable the children to acquire spoken language and other skills needed for school success and a productive life. In 2007, the Foundation funded part of the first year’s operating cost.

Northshore University Health System

In February 2010, the Foundation made pledge payments to Northshore University Health System and to the Health System’s Foundation. The pledged funds will be used to support the Cyrus Tang Fund which was established to advance Northshore’s Interventional Cardiology Program, as well as to enhance and expand Northshore’s clinical, educational and patient care programs. Northshore’s Health System has been ranked among Thomson Reuters “Top 100 (US) Hospitals” for 13 consecutive years – the only hospital system in the US to ever achieve this consistency of performance. Northshore is an industry leader in the field of electronic medical record systems, and has been a model for hospitals across the country.
